A 28-year-old native of Lexington, Kentucky, Ross was selected by the Texas Rangers in the second round of the 2008 MLB Amateur Draft and played three seasons with the team before joining the Boston Red Sox in 2015. In 116 relief appearances with the Red Sox, Ross allowed 118 hits and had the same number of strikeouts in 125 innings. He also walked 48 batters and registered a 3.82 earned run average.
